The Care and Follow-up Service for people with serious mental health problems (SASEM) at Calp Council has organised a new training and therapeutic programme called «Stress Management». The initiative, aimed at service users with serious mental health problems, aims to strengthen autonomy, emotional wellbeing and social inclusion of participants, as well as helping them acquire tools to cope with everyday situations that generate tension.

Sessions take place every Wednesday between 14 October and 16 December, from 10:30 to 11:30, at the Red Cross Calp premises located at Calle María Jorro number 1. The organisation has made this space available to host the programme, which is run by the psychologist assigned to the municipal SASEM service.

A ten-session journey in five blocks

The training itinerary is divided into five modules totalling ten sessions in all. The first, focused on explaining what stress is, is completed in a single session. It is followed by a block of two meetings dedicated to learning methods to reduce accumulated tension.

The third module is the longest, with four sessions dedicated to working on cognitive strategies. Next, a fourth block of two sessions deals with assertiveness skills, while the programme closes with a final module, of a single session, focused on time management and organisation.

With this proposal, Calp Council seeks to ensure that people served by the SASEM service have practical resources to better cope with the daily difficulties that usually favour the appearance of stress.
