The investigation, carried out by the ROCA team of the Calpe Guardia Civil, has made it possible to clarify two break-ins committed at a complex of adjoining industrial warehouses in Altea, one at a furniture factory and another at a waste recycling plant. As a result of the enquiries, officers arrested four men aged between 21 and 33 as alleged perpetrators of both crimes.
In the case of the furniture company, the robbers forced the entrance door to steal various materials and cash. At the recycling warehouse, access was gained by making three holes in one of the building's walls, from where they mainly stole copper and brass, along with cash. The value of goods stolen at this second warehouse alone exceeded €8,000, whilst the total of goods and money taken in both robberies came to nearly €9,000, with material damage exceeding €1,700.
The investigation began following a complaint filed by the owners of both businesses with the Altea Guardia Civil. From there, investigators from the ROCA team reconstructed the pattern followed by the alleged perpetrators, who, according to Guardia Civil conclusions, travelled from Valencia to Altea on the nights of the robberies and then returned to the city.
With that information, officers set up a specific operation that culminated in locating and arresting the four suspects in a district of Valencia. Following police investigation, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the Instruction Section of the District Court of Benidorm, which agreed to release them on bail with charges.
The operation adds to other recent Guardia Civil actions in the comarca against property crimes, such as the one this newspaper reported in Calp involving a violent robbery that left a pedestrian injured.
