Ondara celebrates 9 October with parade, floral tribute and Vila d'Ondara awards

Ondara Town Council has organised official events for the Day of the Valencian Community, which will take place on Friday 9 October 2026 at various locations in the municipality: Plaça 9 d'Octubre, the Town Hall Cloister and the El Prado Building.

The day will begin at 11:30 with a parade led by the Colla de Dolçaines i Tabals d'Ondara and the Ondara Dance Group, which will depart from Plaça 9 d'Octubre. Next, in the Town Hall Cloister, the traditional floral tribute of a laurel wreath to Jaume I will take place, with performances by the colla and the dance group.

The official events will culminate at the El Prado Building with the presentation of the Commemorative Distinctions for 9 October, Vila d'Ondara 2026, to three residents of the municipality. Josep Andreu Alemany Ortolà will be honoured for his contribution to the promotion of Valencian music and culture and to Ondara's musical heritage. Antonio Torres Alba will receive the distinction for his artistic career, his contribution to the cultural life of the municipality and his teaching work. Sergi Mallol i García will be recognised for his career linked to education, research and dissemination of local history, as well as his dedication to the Parish Archive and the Local Studies Days.

The Culture Department highlights that these distinctions recognise individuals who have contributed to the cultural, educational and social development of the municipality and have promoted Ondara's name.

Ondara Town Council invites residents to join this official 9 October celebration, which is part of the cultural programme the municipality has prepared for October 2026.
