Marina Dénia will be the venue next Saturday 24 October, between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m., for the fifteenth edition of the Mascotetes Festival, an event centred on pets that combines competitions, workshops and information stands run by animal welfare organisations and businesses in the sector.

The event was unveiled this Wednesday at a presentation. Marina Dénia's deputy director, Lida Martínez, highlighted that the port facility will once again host "different activities, open to everyone and especially designed for family enjoyment", and stressed that this edition comes after fifteen years of history: "this year we celebrate 15 years of Mascotetes, an event that has become a landmark for animal lovers".

The festival director, Dayana Santacreu, also took part in the presentation and emphasised the role of animal welfare organisations. "We are always confident in this space, as the dogs are safe and in a very family-friendly environment", she said, adding that the event seeks to recognise the work of those who care for animals: "the aim is to raise the profile of the guardians, who are the animal welfare organisations, that care for the animals. We are the guardians of the pirates that we are going to land at Marina Dénia for their care".

From 4:00 p.m. onwards, registration will open for the XVI Mascotetes Competition, open to both pedigree and mixed-breed dogs, with categories including coolest grandpa, rescued star, best pirate costume, best-dressed gentleman and diva of the dance floor. Participation in the competition costs 5 euros, with all proceeds going to animal welfare organisations.

The day will also include children's workshops, canine physiotherapy sessions, information on BARF feeding, first aid instruction and a photo booth with giant bubbles, together with a treasure hunt game scattered around the venue to find a treasure chest. Since 9 October, the Mascotetes Dénia social media accounts have been running the XII Feline Photo Competition, with the prize to be awarded during the festival celebration.

The festival is sponsored by Marina Dénia, Dénia Town Council, Blay Beach, Limpiezas DMH, Cyber Arena and Inmodemar, and is part of the Isla Viva philosophy promoted within the Marina Dénia Island project.
