Dénia presents programme of events for 9 October, Day of Valencians
Dénia Town Council has presented a programme of activities to celebrate 9 October, Day of Valencians, which will take place from 3 to 11 October at various locations throughout the city.
Opening with Dénia Stock fair
The events begin on 3 October with the Dénia Stock commercial fair, which will be open on Marqués de Campo from 10 to 21 hours, according to Dénia Town Council.
Music, correfoc and mascletada
On 8 October a musical programme is planned featuring performances by Sangatxo, Cactus and Reina Mora, five hours of live music from 19 hours until midnight, followed by a correfoc from 00.30 hours, with the participation of the Dénia Artistic Musical Association and Dianium Danza, according to the Town Council.
On 9 October an institutional ceremony will begin at 10.30 hours, with addresses from the mayor, Rafa Carrió, and municipal spokespersons. From 11 hours, Marqués de Campo will host children's games and inflatables. At midday a giant paella will be cooked, distribution among 1,000 diners will begin at 14 hours. In the afternoon, from 19 to 20.30 hours, the vespreig will take place with a performance by Histeriia, and the day will conclude with a night-time mascletada at 21 hours in Plaza Jaime I.
Children's workshops and diversity music
On 10 October a puppet theatre workshop will be held at 12 hours, aimed at children, plus the Diva Dénia Music Pride festival, according to Dénia Town Council.
Valencian pelota and fire giants
The programme will close on 11 October, Pelota Day, with traditional games organised by the Dénia Pelota Club between 09.30 and 11 hours on Calle del Padre Pere. That same day, between 11 and 19 hours, the streets of Dénia will host the first Meeting of Giants and Fire Beasts, with Caña Badà as one of the participating groups.
