Dénia urges residents to stay indoors and move to upper floors due to flood risk
La Marina Times

The Ajuntament de Dénia has asked residents to avoid unnecessary journeys and not to go out to check on the weather conditions, amid a red alert which, according to reports, will be in place over the comarca for hours.

The council warns that the Racons and Girona rivers are flowing at the limit of their capacity, with a real threat of overflow, so it advises those living in ground-floor flats, detached houses or rural areas near ravines and flood-prone zones to move to upper floors of their homes.

Dénia's Local Police are monitoring sensitive areas of the municipality inch by inch, controlling access and rural roads affected by the heavy rainfall. Officers are expected to make preventive road closures immediately if the flow of the watercourses exceeds normal levels.

The Ajuntament de Dénia insists that residents remain in their homes whilst the risk situation persists and follow the guidance of the Local Police.
