Xarxa Esportiva launches new season of Marina Alta regional sports leagues

The sports organisation Xarxa Esportiva has started a new season of its regional competitions open to adults over 16 years old in Marina Alta, which include volleyball, frontenis and Valencian pilota. Its president, Sergi Brogniez, explained that the initiative pursues three goals: to encourage sporting practice among the adult population, to promote outdoor activities and relations between municipalities, and to provide continuity for those who already practise these disciplines.

Volleyball welcomes new contender

In volleyball, Club Voleibol Cap d'Or from Teulada Moraira defends the title after becoming unbeaten champions in the first edition of the competition. Joining the battle for the top positions this season is the team from Gata de Gorgos, which arrives strengthened after winning the regional tournament held in September.

Format change in frontenis

The frontenis competition, which last season brought together eight teams, is modifying its competition system: the final phase reserved for the four top-placed teams is being dropped and a double round-robin league format among all participants is being adopted. Beniarbeig and Calp present themselves as the reference teams for this edition, backed by the results achieved in the previous season.

Valencian pilota with two modalities

The Valencian pilota competition will be played under the format known as Lliga a Ratlles, which combines the modalities of llargues and palma.

The initiative started last season with the intention of establishing itself as a competitive alternative that does not compete with the amateur modalities already existing in the comarca. The organisation has set up a link for teams interested in participating to register.
