Xàbia hosts 14th TriXàbia edition in memory of Edu Monfort
Club Esportiu Llebeig Xàbia brought together triathletes from several clubs in the comarca on the beaches of El Arenal and paseo David Ferrer, with Olympic distance and sprint events.
The town hosted another triathlon event thanks to the fourteenth TriXàbia, a race that honours Edu Monfort each year and brought together athletes from different clubs in Marina Alta and the surrounding area.
Winners of the long distance
In the Olympic category, Santiago Hoyo, representing Tri Net Nunca Es Tarde, claimed victory among the men, crossing the finish line in 1:54:42. Among the women, the best time went to Cristina Rosellón, from CT Publidom, who completed the course in 2:15:04.
Sprint and relays
In the shorter format, Vicente Ginestar, from Ondara Tri-Esport, took the men's victory with a time of 1:01:09, whilst Ana Guillermina Bargas dominated the women's race with 1:08:38.
For teams, the Amunt Llebeig squad, made up of Iván, Regina and Mark, was fastest in the Olympic relay event, recording 1:56:40.
Broad participation
Besides the winners, athletes and clubs including Sergio Marco, Vicente Solbes, Andrea Fos, Clara Ibor, Carlos Cabrera, Joan Pellín, Luna García, Giulana Pacheco, Tramusser Team, Los Hermanos Ingebrigtsen and Club Triatló Gandía, among others, took part in a day that cements TriXàbia as one of the key sporting events on the Xàbia calendar.
