A regatta affected by wind conditions
The RCN Calpe Light Sailing Trophy was held in Calpe waters over a weekend, with participation from sailors in the ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and ILCA 7 classes. According to Radio Litoral, the first day allowed only one race to be completed, in the ILCA 7 class alone, due to wind conditions. On Sunday, by contrast, four races were held in ILCA 4 and ILCA 6, and three races in ILCA 7. Radio Litoral notes that changing weather between days forced sailors to adapt constantly during the competition.
Suárez and Macgregor take centre stage
Guillermo Suárez, from CNA, won the overall classification in ILCA 7 and the Under-19 and Under-21 categories, according to Radio Litoral. Lewis Macgregor, from Club Náutico Jávea, headed the men's classification in ILCA 6 Absolute and also won in Under-19 Men.
ILCA 4 results
In ILCA 4 Under-16 Women, victory went to Valentina Belso, from Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, followed by Claudia Gómez and Romina Vicent. In the ILCA 4 Under-16 men's category, the win went to Iván Sáez, also from Real Club Náutico Torrevieja, ahead of Jorge Gómez and Izan Rogel.
ILCA 6 results
In ILCA 6 Absolute Women, Ascensión Roca from Real Club Náutico Torrevieja took the win. In ILCA 6 Under-19 Women, the winner was Marta Ferrando, from Real Club Náutico de Valencia, followed by María Fenoll and Elsa Sellés. In ILCA 6 Under-19 Men, after Macgregor, the podium was completed by Javier Bellver in second place and Liam Woods, from CN Jávea, in third.
ILCA 7 results
In ILCA 7 Under-19, after Suárez, the podium was completed by Víctor Sellés and Alberto Gadea. In ILCA 7 Under-21, also after Suárez, Víctor Sellés came second and Nicolas Lissorgues, from Real Club de Regatas Alicante, third.
