The Cervantes pitch hosted the presentation of Pego C.F.'s football school for the 2026-2027 season, an event attended by players, families and club supporters. The club's president, Sergio Serna, was accompanied by the council's sports councillor, Raúl Tamarit.
The main highlight of this campaign is the launch of a second women's team, this time in football 8, which joins the existing football 11 team. The new squad arises from a shared project with U.D. Oliva.
Regarding the size of the set of teams that make up the club, there is no single figure: whilst the presentation headline mentions 17 teams, Sergio Serna himself placed the project at 15 teams and 260 members.
A club with more than a century of history
Councillor Raúl Tamarit described the event as "a source of pride" and stressed that "to speak of Pego Club de Fútbol is to speak of the history of our town", in reference to a trajectory that, he noted, exceeds a century of existence.
On the arrival of the second women's team, Tamarit stated that "this is great news because sport recognises neither boys nor girls, but rather passion, enthusiasm and desire to play, and the future of Pego Club de Fútbol is also being written in the feminine". The councillor added that "from the council we will continue to stand by Pego Club de Fútbol because backing our sport is backing the future of our town".
For his part, Serna thanked the support of sponsors and the sports department for the club's project. The event, enlivened with a demonstration by Eva Studio Dance School, concluded with a joint photograph of the first and second teams, with both squads calling for supporters' backing to strengthen the club's structure.
