Dénia hosts third edition of 'Cien Paladas' solidarity rowing regatta
More than one hundred rowers gathered off the Marina Dénia sports port for the third 'Cien Paladas Solidarias' Challenge, a rowing event in aid of people affected by breast cancer.
The Valencian Community Rowing Federation, together with Club Rem Marina Dénia, organised this solidarity sporting event last Sunday, reaching its third edition in Dénia waters. The competition brought together more than one hundred athletes, who competed in two different categories.
In one of them, women who have overcome breast cancer took part, sailing aboard traditional vessels of the Falucho Llaüt Valencià type. The second competition featured crews from Santa Pola Nautical Club, Alicante Royal Rowing Club, Benidorm Nautical Club and Club Rem Marina Dénia itself.
Other parallel competitions
The day also included other regattas focused on equality, in which representatives from Xàbia Nautical Club, Oliva Nautical Club and the Rowing Federation School competed. In the final, the athlete from the federation school defeated the representative from the Xàbia club.
Next event in Benidorm
The Valencian Community Rowing Federation plans to hold its next solidarity regatta on 4 October in Benidorm, which will be the fourth edition of this type of event organised by the federation throughout the year.
