Housing proposals

In an opinion article dated 1 October 2026, the secretary of PSPV-PSOE in Calp, José Jaime Pastor Tierra, returns to the housing proposals that his party presented on 4 April. Among them, he explains, is the creation of public rental housing by making use of urban land for public services and mixed-use plots, as well as the reactivation of the Llibertat PRI with the aim of generating social housing and car parking spaces. He also proposes setting up a Municipal Housing Office that would offer guarantees to both landlords and tenants.

Criticism of PP urban planning

Pastor Tierra argues that during the years the PP governed Calp, numerous modifications to the General Urban Planning Plan approved in 1998 were processed. Municipal documentation records 19 partial modifications in the 2012 revised version of the PGOU, whilst Calp Town Hall currently puts the number of modifications made to that planning at 26.

The socialist leader also calls for a review of how the municipal public housing company promoted during the PP's tenure operated, arguing that it used public resources without this resulting in the creation of public housing.

A direct reproach

Pastor Tierra defends that the debate on housing cannot be addressed without looking at the past. "The PP cannot limit itself now to talking about the housing problem as if it had just appeared," he said, adding that the party "must give explanations about the urban planning policies developed during its years in government."

The socialist secretary puts several specific questions to the current PP secretary in Calp: how many public housing units does his party propose to create, with what budget, on what land and under what rental model.
