Dénia's sports port now has a set of submerged structures designed to restore life to its underwater surfaces. These are modular structures that incorporate the Reef Matrix system, a technology that transforms the port's surfaces into biologically active habitats.

The structures replicate the appearance of natural rocks, with reliefs, cavities and cracks that facilitate the fixation of microorganisms and provide shelter for fish, crabs and octopuses. Their placement underwater was carried out by the local company Route Pont, specialising in port works, while the project's development involves the participation of the Dénia-based startup The Marine Lab.

The operation does not end with physical installation: it also includes continuous scientific monitoring. According to Canfali, this programme includes reviews every six months to check how the colonisation of the structures and the condition of the associated marine community evolve.

The president of the nautical club, Jaime Portolés, valued the initiative as a demonstration of the organisation's commitment to the recovery of the seabed and the indigenous fauna of the area.

For her part, Marina Colvee, founder and director of The Marine Lab, stated that the experience developed at the Dénia facilities "demonstrates that coastal infrastructure can actively protect biodiversity".
