Pedreguer cuts waste charges and approves Cultural Centre refurbishment
The municipal council, meeting on 24 September, unanimously agreed to reduce the waste management fee after confirming a fall in service costs, and also put the cultural building works out to tender.
Lower cost, lower bill
A technical study showed that the total expenditure associated with waste management in the municipality has fallen, allowing councillors to unanimously agree a reduction of nearly €4 on each bill. The service, which costs around one million euros annually, is divided into €715,247 for door-to-door collection and street cleaning, €257,704 for treatment at the El Campello plant and €50,000 for the transfer station. Residents who use the door-to-door system correctly will continue to enjoy a 15% discount on the fee.
Works for the Centre Artístic Musical
With the backing of all groups, the council also authorised the Centre Artístic Musical refurbishment works to be put out to public tender, with a budget of €1,539,579.61. Meanwhile, the initial regulation of the municipal car park in plaza de l'Amistat, which has 47 spaces, was approved.
Council staff and other agreements
The council gave approval to new collective agreements for council staff, as well as a regulation to assess worker performance. Changes were also made to various posts in the Local Police and among auxiliary staff dedicated to tracing duties. In town planning matters, a minor amendment to the La Sella Partial Plan was approved, while a request from an auxiliary technician in the Sports department to combine their post with private work was rejected.
Matters with PP abstention
Three items on the agenda received the abstention of the People's Party, but were ultimately approved: an out-of-court recognition of debts totalling €24,563.80, a credit modification of €40,000 to finance the drafting of the project to change the subsidiary regulations, and the decision to maintain Pedreguer as a member of the Marina Alta Water Consortium.
