Altea to relocate Municipal Market to temporary marquee during building refurbishment

Altea Council has approved a budget modification of €283,000 for the rental of an industrial marquee to temporarily house the market stalls whilst work is carried out on the current building.

The Town Hall initially envisaged installing the marquee in the Town Hall square, although the decision is pending technical reports that must assess whether the space meets the necessary conditions. Should these reports conclude that the square is not suitable, the Council will need to find an alternative location.

Agreement with the Chamber of Commerce

Apart from the marquee rental, the Town Council is allocating an additional €125,000 linked to an agreement with the Alicante Chamber of Commerce, aimed at advancing preparations for the relocation and adapting the new facilities. Between both allocations, the estimated spending for organising the change of location totals €408,000.

Continuity for concessionaires

The councillor for Markets and Finance, José M. Borja, explained that the Council's objective is for the concessionaires to be able to continue their activity as normally as possible during the period in which work is carried out on the original building.
