Poetry, cinema and activism debate mark second Palestine event in Dénia
Dénia's Casa de la Cultura hosts a second day of the 'Palestine: Culture, Memory and Resistance' cycle this Tuesday, from 18:00 to 21:30, with free admission, featuring animation, verse and a debate panel on activism.
The programme begins at six in the evening with 'Poems for Palestine', a recital by Catina Rubio and Paco Cejudo. This is followed by the screening of twelve short films from the itinerant exhibition Palestine Animated, interspersed with readings of Palestinian poetry by Poets of the Marina Alta. The event also includes a live connection with Samira Badran, author of the short film 'Memory of the Land'.
At 20:15 a reflection panel on activism around Palestine takes place, with speakers from movements in Dénia, Xàbia, Pego and Manises. The day concludes with a musical performance by Uruguayan singer-songwriter Ricardo Moraña.
Second session of a cycle that began on Monday
This session continues the inaugural day, held the previous day, when the feature film 'The Tower' by director Mats Grorud premiered and the book 'Against Forgetting' was presented, with the participation of journalists Teresa Aranguren and Sandra Barrilaro. That first session also featured a performance by Dénia-born singer Tania Muñoz and a connection with activist Ángeles Cabria.
Joint organisation
The cycle is promoted by the Peace Movement of the Marina Alta, the Palestine Movement of Xàbia and the Somos Handala collective, with the collaboration of Dénia Town Council, which provides the Casa de la Cultura venue for all activities.
