Pedreguer Town Hall opened the retrospective exhibition on Monday, 6 October, following an earlier postponement due to rain, dedicated to 30 years of the organ at the Santa Creu church. The exhibition, installed at the Casa Municipal de Cultura, will be open to the public until 8 November.
The instrument was built by master organ builder Gerhard Grenzing, with the façade designed by architect Simon Platt, and was inaugurated on 15 July 1997. During the event, Paquibel Server recalled that the idea for the project began to take shape in 1994, before the organ physically existed.
Xavier Àngel Ortolà opened the proceedings, highlighting the cultural and tourist importance the organ has achieved for the municipality. The event was closed by the mayor, Sergi Ferrús, who described the instrument as a living element of the municipality's heritage.
Josep Vicent Giner noted that over these three decades more than 300 concerts and around 30 educational activities centred on the organ have been held. Giner added that the participatory concert—held for the past six editions—brings together more than 150 people including choristers, instrumentalists and musicians.
The 30th International Organ Festival continues throughout October and the first days of November at the Santa Creu church. On Sunday, 11 October, at 18:00, the Salón Orquestra Costa Blanca will perform alongside organist Arturo Barba; on the 18th, at the same time, it will be the turn of the Quintet de Metalls Al Vent with Marc Balaguer on the organ. On Sunday, 25 October, the ADDA Simfònica Alacant, with Josep Vicent Giner and conducted by Cristóbal Soler, will offer another concert in the cycle, which will close on Sunday, 1 November with the Cor i Orquestra de la Rectoria, Josep Vicent Giner and conducted by Jaume Morell.
The project has been sustained over these three decades through collaboration between the Fundació Rolser-Server i Pérez, Pedreguer Town Hall, the Santa Creu parish, musicians, sponsors and technical staff.
