Pedreguer announces winners of 35th Vila de Pedreguer Honour Awards

The mayor of Pedreguer, Sergi Ferrús Peris, read the jury report for the Vila de Pedreguer Honour Awards during the Diada events on 9 October, in an event that took place during a concert by Néstor Mont. This is the 35th edition of these awards, which were announced on Friday 9 October.

The jury awarded the Local Honour Award to Carles Mulet Grimalt for his literary work, cultural research and fight for social rights. The Honour Award for urban planning and architectural merit went to Luis Cortés Meseguer for the restoration of the dome of the Escuelas Pías church in Alicante.

The jury also awarded the Honour Award for cultural merit to Cine Jayan for its work in promoting art house and independent cinema in the original language, whilst the Honour Award for defence of freedoms and solidarity went to Consuelo García del Cid Guerra, for recovering the memory of the 'Protection Board for Women'.

The award ceremony is scheduled for 28 November, if electoral legislation permits, given that elections are called for 29 November. The full programme of events will be made public throughout October.
