Maria Teresa Bas Castelló wins second «Relats de la Terra» competition in Xàbia

Unanimous decision

The competition jury unanimously decided to award the prize to the work «El far cec», whose plot addresses the armed conflict and its subsequent repressive consequences. The deliberation took place a few days ago within the framework of this second edition of the literary competition written in Valencian.

The evaluation committee was made up of Quica Gil, Marta Català and Arnau Castell, who held a working meeting with the Culture councillor of Xàbia Town Hall, Mavi Pérez.

Other prize-winning stories

Beyond the winning text, the jury selected seven other narratives that will be included alongside «El far cec» in the compiled volume of this edition. These are «El que no és nostre», «Encara no», «La llum que torna», «On s'amaguen els estrells», «Recorda», «De la Marina a les Amèriques» and its second part, «Viatge a Nova York», as well as «El poble no estava». In total, eight short stories will be part of this year's printed publication.

According to competition figures, around twenty people sent in their proposals for this second edition.

Prize ceremony

The ceremony to recognise the authors will take place on 9 October at 12:00 at Xàbia Town Hall.
