Two hearings in one week
The Alicante court is scheduled to hold two separate trials next week for alleged sexual assaults committed against minors in the Marina Alta comarca. One of the proceedings is linked to Calp and the other to Xàbia, and in both cases the prosecution will request 14 years in prison for the respective defendant.
The Calp case
The Public Prosecution Service has charged a man with a continuous offence of sexual assault, along with a grooming offence, against his partner's minor niece. According to the prosecution's account, the defendant allegedly took advantage of moments when he was alone with the girl to sexually assault her from 2013, when the victim was 5 years old. Three years after these events began, the minor moved to live outside Spain; the prosecution maintains that, even at that stage, the defendant repeatedly demanded videos and photographs of a sexual nature from her and sent her images of his own genitals.
The Xàbia case
In the second proceeding, the Public Prosecution Service accuses another man of a continuous offence of sexual assault with penetration against his ex-partner's minor daughter. According to the prosecution's version, the events began in 2020, when the victim was 10 years old, and continued until 2023. According to the Public Prosecution Service, the defendant frequently visited the minor's home, even after ending his relationship with her mother, in order to be alone with her and sexually assault her.
Dates of the hearings
The hearing relating to the Calp case will take place on Monday 5 October, while the hearing for the Xàbia case will take place on Wednesday 7 October.
